Prior authorization harms patients and physicians, and MSDC has long advocated to remove this administrative burden and barrier to care.  Now, momentum is building in states across the country to fix prior authorization and help ensure patients get much needed care. In this recorded session, AMA Senior Legislative Attorney Emily Carroll discusses prior authorization efforts and strategies being used across the country, such as “gold carding”.  Dr. Worthing  discusses what has been done in the District., and the Medical Society’s ten-year push to fix prior authorization in the District.
