MSDC Statement on Removal of ACIP Panel Members
MSDC believes the ACIP members must be unequivocally qualified and respected medical experts chosen without regards to politics.
MSDC President Dr. Dock Winston issued the following statement on June 9, 2025:
The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) plays a critical role in the health of the District. In particular, their recommendations form the basis for our robust and comprehensive school vaccination program. Any move to weaken the scientific effectiveness of the committee’s recommendations should be met with considerable concern on the unintended consequences. MSDC believes the ACIP members must be unequivocally qualified and respected medical experts chosen without regards to politics. We echo the comments of the American Medical Association and other medical organizations decrying this decision.
