1. Why do you belong to MSDC?
I joined MSDC because connecting with other physicians outside of clinical roles is a priority for me. As a new member, I appreciate how open the community is to sharing experiences, and I find these networking events to be an excellent way to stay engaged with the medical society.
2. If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be?
Barack Obama. I would love to discuss his perspective on the pros and cons of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) with the benefit of hindsight. I am particularly interested in learning what he might have changed or fought harder for during the healthcare bill's original creation.
3. What is one piece of advice you would give to a physician starting a practice in DC?
Do not be afraid to bet on yourself. Many colleagues have navigated similar financial, operational, or interpersonal challenges when starting their own practices, and putting yourself out there often leads to the answers or connections you need. Taking that leap also helps you truly understand your value and priorities once you regain your autonomy.
