The Medical Society mourns the passing of Dr. Theresa Stone May 13, 2026

May 13, 2026 - The Medical Society of DC and The Healthy Physician Foundation (HPF) are saddened to share that former Board member, dedicated member, and volunteer Dr. Theresa (Terri) Stone has passed away. Dr. Stone served on the MSDC Board from 2019 to 2022 and was an inaugural Trustee of the Foundation.

"Terri was a legend in our community and a well-being pioneer," said MSDC President-Elect and Foundation Chair Dr. Klint Peebles. "I have heard countless stories about her curiosity to make physicians' and patients' lives better, always with a smile. We are devastated at this news, and our community will miss her, even though her impact will be with us forever."

Dr. Stone was the first Chair of the MSDC Wellbeing Committee, which was created as part of the MSDC Healthy Physician Foundation in 2021. In this role, Dr. Stone guided many physician wellness initiatives, including physician cooking programs and facilitating collaboration between the Foundation and the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM), of which Dr. Stone was a Fellow. Beyond her formal presence, Dr. Stone's kind nature and need to learn endeared her to everyone she met.

Dr. Stone will have a special commemoration this fall at the MSDC annual meeting. More details will be announced in the coming weeks.
