MSDC Members Invest in the Future of Medicine at 2025 Annual Meeting November 4, 2025

MSDC members, guests, and DC leaders gathered at the historic Riggs Hotel on Monday to celebrate the Society's annual meeting of members. The highlight of the event was the inauguration of Matthew Lecuyer, MD, as the Society's new president.

At the State of the Society Session, newly-installed President Dr. Lecuyer laid out a clear vision for the Society based on engagement for physicians at all stages of career. "Our profession is much more than a job," he said. "It is a calling, rooted in science and guided by ethics and a duty to society. As physicians and healthcare workers, we are called to heal, not only patients, but the fractured system in which we provide care."

The business meeting began with special remarks from Dr. Peter Marks, formerly of FDA. Dr. Marks reemphasized a need for the commitment to science in his remarks and encouraged all attendees to show that the basis of public health is the patient-physician relationship. This is an especially important in an increasingly online world full of misinformation and misnomers.

The Capital Healthcare Future Forum featured an all-star lineup of healthcare experts discussing what they see coming in DC area care. Sponsored by CareFirst, the panel discussed health disparities, health tech, and continuum of care across the DC area. Speaking at the event were DC Health Director Dr. Ayanna Bennett, Children's Hospital's Dr. Meghan Delaney, and MedStar's Dr. Feseha Woldu.

Before the business meeting, attendees mixed and mingled on the top floor of the Riggs Hotel. Overlooking the city skyline from Penn Quarter, attendees renewed connections, met meeting supporters, and enjoyed an evening of appreciation for their work.

More information, pictures, and details about this event will be shared in the coming days.
