MSDC President Commends Funding of Certificate of Need Bill June 25, 2025

Statement from MSDC President Dr. Dock Winston:

The Medical Society of the District of Columbia (MSDC) is the largest medical organization representing metropolitan Washington physicians in the District. We advocate on behalf of all 11,000 plus licensed physicians in the District and seek to make the District the nation’s model for patient care and physician practice.

On behalf of the physician community, I want to thank the Committee on Health and Chair Henderson for including funding for B26-25, the Certificate of Need Improvement Amendment Act of 2025. The legislation is a top priority for the physician community. The Society firmly believes it is important for practices to not face onerous, unnecessary paperwork to operate in the District and the legislation establishes a fair framework for the certificate of need process.

I urge the Council to include it in its final budget and get the legislation implemented.
