This all-day Presidential Symposium will explain and illustrate how the increasing streams of information available to the clinician in the computer age is expanding and enriching the modern practice of Psychiatry. The morning session will focus on the use of “big data” derived from the growing body of electronic health record, pharmacy, and population demographic data to understand service use and treatment response across psychiatric diagnoses. Newer models of clinical practice reviewed in the afternoon session will include discussions of collaborative and integrative care, telepsychiatry, and the rapid rise of smartphone and Web-based apps as adjuncts in diagnosis and symptom tracking.
