Join MSDC on Friday evening, October 19 at the historic Cosmos Club as we celebrate the past and embrace the future. MSDC’s well-attended annual meetings attract physicians of all specialties from across the metropolitan Washington region in a festive and interactive environment. The evening will kick off with a social reception at 6:00 pm, followed by thought provoking conversation on the future of medicine, a celebration of leadership and service to the city and the profession with presentation of MSDC's Special Awards and installation of new leadership.There will be ample time for socializing and connecting with your physician colleagues throughout the evening.
There will be an open bar with heavy appetizers. Valet parking is provided courtesy of ProAssurance.

•MSDC Special Awards
  Damani McIntosh-Clarke  
  President's Award

MSDC is pleased to announce the creation of the President's Award, to be awarded for the very first time at MSDC’s 2018 Annual Meeting. As medicine faces a pivotal point, the inaugural recipient represents promise for the future of the profession. Damani McIntosh-Clarke, the 2018 Presidents' Award recipient is a medical student at George Washington School of Medicine & Health Sciences and is a forceful advocate for public health, the profession of medicine and medical education.
  Daniel I. Perlin, MD 
  Dr. Charles H. Epps, III Community Service Award 

MSDC Past President Dr. Daniel Perlin is being recognized for outstanding public service to the community. Dr. Perlin, Anesthesiologist at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, has served many years as Chair of MSDC's Physician Health Committee and has worked to address the opioid crisis and physician wellness.
  Neal Barnard, MD 
  Distinguished Service Award

Dr. Neal Barnard is being recognized for outstanding service to MSDC. Dr. Barnard, President of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, Founder of Barnard Medical Center, and Adjunct Associate Professor at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, generously volunteers his time and talent to the Medical Society and has provided valuable assistance on advocacy efforts to improve access to healthy foods in the District.
  Anthony Ibe, MD
  Certificate of Meritorious Service

Dr. Anthony Ibe is being recognized for distinguished service to the medical profession. Dr. Ibe has served the medical profession through his advocacy on behalf of Providence physicians, role as Past President of Medico-Chirirgucal Society of DC, and affiliation with Providence Hospital, Howard University, Bridgepoint Hospital, and Georgetown School of Medicine.

  John Benjamin Nichols Award

The George Washington University Hospital/ UHS and The GW Medical Faculty Associates are being recognized for their outstanding contributions toward improving the health of the community and stewardship in healthcare east of the River.


 •Installation of New MSDC Leadership
 Dr. Raymond Tu will be installed as MSDC President. MSDC's new President-elect will be Dr. J. Desiree Pineda

Dress Code: Business Attire or Cocktail.
Cosmos Club's dress code states "Gentlemen are expected to wear jackets, dress slacks, a collared long-sleeved shirt (tucked-in) or turtleneck at all times...Ties are not required. Ladies are expected to dress in an equivalent fashion, which means dresses, suits, skirts or dress slacks with jackets or tops of equivalent formality. Leggings or tights, unless worn with skirts, dresses, or long jackets, are not considered to be of equivalent formality."
