MSDC has a new benefit for members! Join us for special "MSDC members only" advocacy briefings throughout the year to get insider knowledge on medical advocacy issues, as well as interact with key players in the DC politics scene.
Our first session is a forum on what health issues are before the Council and how you can get involved. The Council has a heavy agenda, including:
- Prior auth restrictions
- Prescription drug reform
- Telehealth updates
- Public health bills
- And more
You will hear from MSDC Advocacy Committee Chair Dr. Klint Peebles and MSDC Board member Dr. Meghan Schott about:
- What issues you need to be aware of and why
- How you can become engaged in those issues of interest to you
- Tips and tricks for effectively advocating before the Council and Mayor's staff
Bios:
Dr. Klint Peebles is a board-certified dermatologist, having completed residency at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a medical internship and medical school at Vanderbilt University, and undergraduate studies concentrating in neuroscience at Vanderbilt. Dr. Peebles was born and raised in Philadelphia, Mississippi with parents in the healthcare system (a nurse and pharmacist) working in the Indian Health Service. Dr. Peebles is actively engaged with advocacy efforts and organized medicine with involvement in the American Medical Association and numerous leadership roles in the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Peebles has particular expertise and research experience in sexual and gender diverse health and a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Dr. Peebles has a calico cat, Neo, and a yorkie-shih tzu mix, Mochi.
Meghan Schott, D.O., completed a psychiatry residency at Allegheny Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa. She then pursued a child psychiatry fellowship at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago, Ill., part of the Northwestern Medical Center. Dr. Schott's prime interests include medical education and teaching at all levels, as well as emergency psychiatry and psychopharmacology.
