Applying for Residency: Chart the Next Stage of Your Medical Career
Wednesday, September 8
7:00 PM

This event has concluded. You can watch the recording below:

Applying for residency is an opportunity to showcase all that you have accomplished in medical school and plan for future success in your medical career. It is also a critical, time-consuming step in your training that spans months and, for some, adds stress and uncertainty to an already draining course load. MSDC’s Early Career Physicians Section is hosting a free webinar on Wednesday, September 8, at 7 PM to help medical students chart this next stage of your career.

Learn from physician leaders how to navigate the residency application and interview process, avoid pitfalls and chart a path toward your next goal: residency at your preferred program. Successfully navigate the entire process - from preparing and submitting your application via ERAS to interviewing at residency programs. In addition, there will be a breakout opportunity to focus on core specialties and get insights on the process interview.  This webinar is open to all DC medical students.

OVERVIEW: RESIDENCY APPLICATIONS
This overview will discuss the basics and go “behind the scenes” of residency. Learn how to strategize for your ERAS application, including what amount and kind of information to submit, what program directors look for and how to prepare for an interview. Get inside the mind of a residency program director to communicate that you are the “right fit” and make the match.

SPECIALTY BREAKOUTS
After the application overview, there will be a breakout session to learn about residency in certain key specialties (internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, pediatrics, psychiatry). Get insights on various specialties and interviewing tips and techniques, with a special focus on the virtual setting
