Community Service Award Presented to John J. LynchAt the Medical Society’s 2006 Annual Meeting, John J. Lynch, MD was awarded the Dr. Charles H. Epps, III Community Service Award. This award is presented to a physician member for outstanding public service to the community. When asked to name a physician who has “given back to the community,” the first name mentioned by many in Washington health care circles is Dr. Lynch. His list of community service is impressive. Currently, he is the board chair of Columbia Health Services and is a member of the Operations Board of the Visiting Nurses Association. He also sits on the boards of the Washington Home and Community Hospices, MedStar Research Institute, the Greater Washington Partnership for Palliative and End-of-Life Care, and the American Hospital Association’s Regional Policy Board. He is also chair of the Advisory Committee to the Archdiocesan Health Care Network (an organization he helped found), an advisory board member of the DC Central Cancer Registry, a bioethics consultant to the DC Superior Court probate Division, and a member of the DC Pain Initiative Steering Committee and the DC Board of Medicine,. |
