Briefly Noted

• Daniel Ein, MD, was installed as president of the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. Dr. Ein served as chair of MSDC’s Emergency Preparedness Committee from its inception in 2001 to 2006.

• Howard A. Hoffman, MD, executive medical director of the Psychiatric Institute of Washington, received the DC Hospital Association’s Distinguished Service Award for his leadership, integrity, commitment and a high degree of personal initiative. Dr. Hoffman is co-chair of MSDC’s Professional Standards Committee.

• The Medical Society officers and staff extend condolences to Maureen Gaston and her family on the death of her husband, Freddie Gaston. Maureen Gaston is MSDC’s receptionist, membership coordinator and friendly voice greeting callers to the Medical Society.
