DOH to Launch Electronic Death Registration SystemThe Department of Health Policy Planning and Research Administration, Vital Records Division (VRD), encourages physicians to become familiar with its new Electronic Death Registration System, which will launch this month. DOH will phase-in the system with the goal of having most providers using it by early 2007. Mandated by the National Intelligence Reform Act of the Department of Homeland Security, the system will enable all providers of death data—hospitals, nursing homes, hospices and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner—to send their reports electronically to VRD. To schedule training or obtain more information, contact Julia Davidson-Randall at the DOH VRD, phone 202-442-9299 or email Julia.randall@dc.gov. |
