Physicians Invited to Bridges to Excellence Summit

On April 5, the Mid-Atlantic Business Group on Health (MABGH) will host a physician/business community summit to discuss the planned launch of the diabetes and cardiac care portions of Bridges to Excellence (BTE) in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Internists and physicians who practice family medicine in DC, Maryland and/or Virginia are invited to attend. The summit will be held from 7:00 to 9:30 pm at the Bethesda Marriott at 5151 Pooks Hill Road. There is no charge to attend. Dinner will be provided.

According to MABGH’s Executive Director John Miller, this is an opportunity for the local physician community to gain a better understanding of BTE, including “its challenges, its rewards, how it works, and whether it works.”

The featured speaker will be O’tayo Lalude, MD, a practicing physician who participates in the BTE program in Kentucky. Dr. Lalude will provide a hands-on description of what it took to qualify for the program and the financial and professional rewards associated with it.

To register for the summit, contact Mr. Miller at john.miller@mabgh.org by March 30, 2007.

BTE is a multi-state, multi-employer coalition developed by employers, physicians, health care services researchers and other industry experts. The BTE mission is to reward quality across the health care system, and is a grantee of Robert Wood Johnson’s Rewarding Results grant program.

The Cardiac Care Link is focused on improving the quality of care for patients with cardiovascular disease. Physicians must have completed the NCQA Heart/Stroke Recognition Program. The Diabetes Care Link is intended to improve the quality of care for patients with diabetes. Physicians must have completed the NCQA Diabetes Recognition Program.
