Your Practice Online
About Your Practice Online
MSDC created a partnership with Medem, the e-health network founded by the nation’s leading medical societies, to help Medical Society members harness the power of the Internet with the Your Practice Online web site service, in November 2000.
Now available—free of charge—to all MSDC member physicians, Medem’s Your Practice Online allows physicians to easily create a customizable practice web site that features credible, comprehensive, clinical information from all of Medem’s partner societies. MSDC has joined the nation’s leading medical societies who founded Medem to empower the physician-patient relationship.
With this member benefit, MSDC is able to offer a tremendous opportunity for MSDC members, their practices, and their patients. Each physician's web site acts as an extension of his or her practice and offers patients the opportunity to learn more about their health and wellness.
Also available from Medem:
Secure Messaging Once the web site is created, physicians can engage the secure messaging feature. Secure messaging facilitates online appointment requests, prescription refill requests, address updates, and other general messages. Secure messaging was created in conjunction with leading medical professional liability carriers. Medem created the
eRisk Working Group to address the issues and concerns associated with physician-patient interaction and communication via the Web.
Online Consultation (OC) OC is an upgrade to Medem’s secure messaging tool, and goes a step further: patients can pose a clinical question, or request a clinical consultation, online from their physician. And, OC provides a way for physicians to receive payment for the interaction.
Why is a Web Site Important?
As increasing numbers of people turn to the Internet for medical information, it is more important than ever for all physicians to have a strong online presence. In fact, patients confirm that online access to a physician’s practice is one of the driving forces in physician selection; a Cyber Dialogue study indicated that 14.8 million online adults are likely to switch doctors to gain Web site access.
Your Practice Online makes it easy for you to:
Select articles and content from Medem’s comprehensive library of peer-reviewed healthcare information from all of Medem’s partner societies, including MSDC.
Choose your own web address (URL) for your site, so current and prospective patients can easily find your practice on the Internet.
Include your care philosophy, specialties, procedures, CV, practice announcements, office contact information, staff photos, and insurance information.
Customize your site with your own patient education materials, office forms, Web links and more.
Keep your patients informed with specialty and state-specific medical news. This information is automatically updated by Medem.
Do you already have a web site? If so, you can still take advantage of the patient information resources that the Medem opportunity offers. To find out how to link Medem articles and other information to your existing web site, contact
Susan Wolcott.
NOTE: In order to build your free web site, you will need your MSDC member ID number. If you do not know it, please contact
