New member benefit will enhance your bottom line and make you a hero to your staff

The Medical Society of DC is rolling out a new benefit of membership aimed at helping your staff make your practice more effective, efficient and ultimately more profitable.  It’s also likely to making you a hero to your staff.

Working with the health care team from Snyder, Cohn, Collyer, Hamilton & Associates, MSDC has established a Medical Practice Professionals Group to support and assist all who play a role in the financial success of your practice.  This group is open to any and all non-clinical staff working in any area of the business/administration of a medical practice - large or small - in which at least one physician is a member of the Medical Society of DC.   Membership in this group is open to all appropriate staff members, even if they rotate who attends any given event.

At each meeting – we anticipate 6 to 8 per year -- your staff will receive valuable information and advice that can be applied to the day-to-day operations of your medical practice. The morning meetings will begin with a continental breakfast and a speaker on a subject which has a direct effect on the efficiency and ultimately profitability of your practice.  (Some topics that have been suggested include applying the principles of “customer service” to a medical practice, and affordable technology that pays for itself quickly in a solo or small group practice.)  At each meeting, your staff will also receive timely updates and participate in a roundtable discussion where attendees will be free to pose questions, exchange information, share solutions and make suggestions. Some topics might include cost-cutting measures, managed care negotiations, revenue enhancement, value-added services, etc. The roundtable – in fact the entire meeting - will be informal, so participants can feel free to participate as little or as much as they like.   The group may also enjoy a weekend retreat where important subjects can be addressed in detail.

There is no charge for your staff to join the Medical Practice Professionals Group.  It’s a benefit of membership offered by MSDC that you can convert into a benefit of employment that you offer your staff!

The next meeting of the Medical Practice Professionals Group will be on Thursday, June 8th, 8-10 a.m. at the Medical Society of DC, 2175 K Street, NW, Suite 200, Washington, DC.  As Newsline goes to press, the topic and speaker for this meeting have not yet been confirmed.  So please watch MSDC’s website (www.msdc.org) for an announcement soon.  If you and your staff are already convinced of the value of this group and want to register for the June meeting now, please email RUSSELLL@CPAHELP.COM  (note that there are three L’s in the first half of the e-mail address) or call Lacey Russell at Snyder, Cohn, Collyer, Hamilton & Associates, 301-652-6700, extension 337.  Indicate the name(s) of the registrants and at least one MSDC memberphysician in the practice they will represent.

Please contact Dianne Bricker at bricker@msdc.org with any questions.

While we know that it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to spare all of your business staff for two hours the morning of June 8th, we hope that you will encourage at least one person to attend.   Your staff – and ultimately your practice – will thank you for it.
