MSDC Continues to be the Voice of Medical Liability Reform for Physicians in the District
MSDC has continued to push forward on medical liability reform initiatives by meeting with DC’s opinion leaders and contacting local media outlets. K. Edward Shanbacker met with the Jim Dinegar the incoming CEO of the Greater Washington Board of Trade to brief him on the impact medical liability reform has on business in the District. Mr. Shanbacker also discussed MLR with the Chair of the DCHA government relations committee. Members of the MSDC MLR task force- Marc Rankin, MD, and John Niles, MD, met with DC Councilmembers on behalf of MSDC members. On Friday June 9th MSDC Chairman Peter E. Lavine, MD, discussed MLR on The Kojo Nnamdi Show – 88.5 FM - with Jonetta Rose Barras, WAMU resident political analyst and Michael Brown, Democratic Candidate, DC Mayor. Dr. Lavine made strong points regarding MSDC’s decision to support civil justice, non-cap legislation passage by the DC Council. More meetings are planned for this summer and early fall by the MSDC leadership, MLR task force and MSDC staff.
