An Honor for MSDC

At the recent Annual Meeting of the House of Delegates of the American Medical Association (AMA), held in Chicago, June 9 – 14, the Southeastern Delegation selected Joseph E. Gutierrez, MD, FACS, as its Chair-elect.  Dr. Gutierrez is the Chair of MSDC’s AMA Delegation, and represents MSDC on the Southeastern Delegation’s Executive Committee.  The Southeastern Delegation consists of all the states from Delaware to Louisiana, and includes the District of Columbia, as well as Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.  Dr. Gutierrez will serve one year terms as the Chair-elect, then Chair and Immediate Past Chair.

The Southeastern Delegation is one of the most highly respected caucuses within the AMA House of Delegates, and coordinates the political activities of all its member states within the AMA House. Because of its size and diversity, it has been very effective and influential in the AMA House of Delegates.
